Mary Eloise Nelson, 94 of The Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, formerly of Colchester, Illinois went home to be with her Lord, April 13, 2017. She was born March 4, 1923, in Hardeman County, Tennessee, the daughter of James Oscar and Frances Athelia (McAlpin) Sain. She married Thomas John Nelson on March 15, 1942, in Huntsville, Alabama.
Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, 2 Sisters: Faye Chambers and Bobbie June Flake, 3 Brothers: Robert Windell Sain, William Gordon Sain, and and infant Brother: James Oscar Sain Jr., 3 half - sisters: Annie Owen, Pearl Luttrell and Jewel Winn, 2 half - brothers: Thomas Sain and Jim Sain, and a Great Granddaughter: Emily Nicole Biswell.
Surviving are 2 Daughters: Vicki (Terry) Biswell of Quincy and Anita (Ken) Brown of LaHarpe and 1 Son: Mike (Charlotte) Nelson of Colchester, 1 Brother: Travis Sain, of Bartlett, Tennessee, 1 sister in law: Elaine Sain of Olive Branch, Mississippi, 7 Grandchildren: Matt Biswell (Lori), Michael Biswell (Jen), Jolyn Whitman (Alan), Brian Brown (Amy), Amy Chambers (Lance), Todd Nelson (Megan), and Tim Nelson (Sara), 18 Great Grandchildren: Abby and Blake Biswell, Gianna, Will and Thomas Biswell, Cory and Jordan Thorman, Matthew and Mason Whitman, Bailey and Laney Brown, Cole, Brynn and Cade Chambers, Andy, Claire, and Austin Nelson, Eve Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.
Eloise was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colchester where she served in many ways, including working with the Good News Club after school program. She also volunteered at the Colchester Grade School as a lunchroom monitor and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was blessed by many people while she resided at the Elms, those who volunteered by faithfully reading to her, Pearl Bradley and Wanda Bartlett, and those who cared for her in a kind and loving manner. The family would like to thank these people for enriching her life.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Colchester First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dennis Clements. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Visitation with the Family will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday. Memorials Colchester First Baptist Church or The Elms Nursing Home.
