Bernard A Smith

Bernard A. Smith age 73 of Macomb, passed away Monday February 26, 2024, at McDonough District Hospital.  He was born February 10, 1951, in Macomb to Ernest and Mary Smith.  Bernard was united in marriage October 19, 1974, in Macomb, to Glenda M. Smith.  She preceded him in death on October 14, 2023.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers: Dick Smith, Bob Smith, Marvin Smith, Chuck Smith, Ernest Smith, 2 sisters: Patricia Rowland and Beverly Hawkins

Surviving to mourn his passing is 2 sons; Steve (Julieann) Smith, Hamilton, Illinois, Ernie Smith, Colchester, 3 grandchildren: Racheal Smith, Galesburg, Sabrina Smith, Hamilton, Illinois, Billy Karger, Lomax, Illinois, 1 brother: Melvin Smith, Keokuk, Iowa, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bernard drove a truck for many different companies over his lifetime, logging in thousands of miles.  In his free time he enjoyed working on cars.  Bernard loved the time he got to spend with his family.

Cremation Rites have been accorded.  Jones Mortuary in Colchester is handling arrangements.  Graveside services for both Glenda and Bernard, will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester at a later date.  Memorial is to the family to help with expenses. Condolences and memories can be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com.
