Velma M. Welch age 85 of Tennessee, Illinois, passed away at her home with her family at her side on Saturday, July 29, 2017. She was born on July 7, 1932, in the Oak Grove Community located in Hancock, County, Illinois, to George W. and Sarah E. Whelchel Carle. Velma was united in marriage to William N. Welch Jr. on August 21, 1949, in Hamilton, Illinois, he preceded her in death November 13, 1984. She then became very dear friends with Sam Logan and Carroll Weaver, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her Parents, 1 Granddaughter: Julie Renee Welch, 1 Brother: Gerald Carle, 1 Sister: Nellie Shipman, 1 Grandson In Law: Eric Beekman.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 2 Sons: Bill Welch (Theresa), Macomb, Illinois, Bobby Logan, Colchester, Illinois, 5 Grandchildren: Eric Welch (Mary), Macomb, Illinois, Laurie Beekman, Bushnell, Illinois, Chad Welch (Jeri), Macomb, Illinois, Aaron Logan, Brody Logan, 5 Great Grandchildren: Austin Welch, Alex Welch, Sofia Welch, Brooklyn Welch, and Caden Welch,.
Velma was a social member of the Macomb V.F.W., Colchester Senior Center, Faith Fellowship Church, Tennessee, Illinois, Velma enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, crafting, bingo, playing cards, gathering with friends and family, traveling, camping, listening and watching bands perform blue grass and country music. Of all the things, that she did, her greatest enjoyment came when she watched her son Bill with his antique tractors in the tractor pulls, along with spending time with her family. Velma had been employed at Western Illinois University for 20 years in Building services.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev. Dave Scott. Burial will follow the services at St. Marys Cemetery, St. Marys, Illinois. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester.
