Grovene R. Yocum age 85 of Prairie City, Illinois, passed away at 6:25 A.M. Thursday, December 8, 2011, at St. Mary Medical Center, in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born October 12, 1926, in Colchester, to Charles and Maude Smith Powell. Grovene was united in marriage on September 27, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo., to George Marion Yocum, he preceded her in death on February 7, 2011, also preceding her were her parents, 3 Brothers, and 3 Sisters.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 1 Son; Larry George and Linda Yocum, Cedar Hill, Tennessee, 1 Daughter; La Nee Jean Beard, West Burlington, Iowa, 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, 1 Brother; Max and Joan Powell, Bushnell.
She was a member of the Colchester First Christian Church.

Marilyn Kay Raymond, went to be with her lord, at 6:10 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb. She was born May 4, 1940, in Macomb, Illinois to Glenn and Elner Dowdy Standard.
Surviving to mourn her passing is her husband, Clifford of Colchester, 1 Son; Kirk Raymond (Amy), Mt. Sterling, Illinois, 1 Daughter; Marce Raymond Kamps (Tom) of Columbia, Mo., 4 grandchildren; Garrett, Ashlyn, Jesse and Wyatt Raymond of Mt. Sterling, Illinois, 2 Sisters; Sherry Wayland (Jack) of Macomb and Connie Standard of Macomb, 1 Brother; Glenn Arlin Standard (Phyllis of Glendale, AZ., along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son; Monty Kerk Raymond and 1 Sister; Karen Sue Standard.
Marilyn graduated from Macomb Sr. High School in 1958 and worked at Western Illinois University, for 20 years until her retirement on December 31, 1995. She was an active member of the Macomb Assembly of God Church for 55 years. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, and Director of Education. She loved learning by studying the Bible and reading books. She was an avid note taker and record keeper. She was proud of her high school class, and served on the reunion planning committee, for several years. Marilyn would say that keeping in touch is important ! She is happy to meet her Lord and Savior after many years of faithful and unwavering service !
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 7 , 2011, at the Macomb Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Randy Randall. She was born September 7, 1920, in Lamoine Township, to Everett and Bertha Robinson Parks. On February 9, 1945, in Lamoine Township near Plymouth, Illinois she was united in marriage to Lawrence H. ( Tommy ) Matthews, he preceded her in death on December 4, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Jim was united in marriage on April 13, 1965, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to Martha Danielson, she survives of Colchester. Also surviving to mourn his passing are 2 Sons; Tim and Sharon Fentem, Clayton, North Carolina, John and Katy Fentem, Tremont, Illinois, 1 Daughter; Deb and Lonny Malcomson, Virginia, Illinois, 7 Grandchildren; Alex and Nicole Fentem, Shari (Eric) Labian, Erika Eskridge, Brody and Ty Malcomson and Shannon Fentem, 1 Brother; Don and Joyce Fentem, East Moline, Illinois, 2 Sisters; Martha Ann and John Lavelle, Bettendorf, Iowa, LuAnn Zoerner, South Carolina, along with several Nephews and Nieces.
Jim was retired from N.T.N. Bower as an electrician, in Macomb in 2005 after 38 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967. He was a avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and dedicated fishing man, Life member of the North American Fisherman, Member of the Colchester United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and usher.

He was born February 3, 1925, in Rushville, Illinois, to Roy Delbert and Sarah Florence Wheelhouse Wilson. Jack was united in marriage to Naomi F. Stockdale on August 24, 1946, in Macomb, Illinois. Naomi preceded him in death on March 11, 2008. Also preceding him are his parents, 3 Brothers; Jim, Merle and Bob Wilson, and 1 Sister; Elnora J. Smith.

Jack was a member of the St. Pauls Church in Macomb, St. Pauls Knights of Columbus, Gold Hills Golf Course, Little Swan and Shaw Creek Golf Clubs, Automotive Whole salers of Illinois, Macomb V.F.W. Post 1921 and past member of the Colchester Lions Club. He had been a Police Officer in Bushnell, Illinois, worked for Anderson Automotive in Colchester, Owned and operated Bushnell Auto parts for 56 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from June 5, 1943, to March 21, 1946, as a Belly Gunner in the Navy Air Corp. He survived the Sinking of the U.S. Liscome Bay and he served on the U.S. Barnes.

Shirley May Rigg age 86 of Macomb, passed away at 12:55 A.M. Monday, October 3, 2011, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was the fourth of five children born to William and Ida (Swisher) Elam on May 2, 1925. She graduated from Western Academy in 1943 and worked at Woolworth's on the Macomb Square.
She married Keith Wm. Rigg on October 20, 1945. The wedding was held in Anniston, Ala., while Keith was stationed at Fort McClellan. She returned to Macomb when her husband served in the army in France. She worked at Hemps making bomb bands.
She lived all of her life near Fandon, Illinois as a homemaker, assisting Keith in farming and his auctioneering business.
Shirley is survived by two sons; Craig (Cynthia) Rigg of Colchester and Curt (Janet) Rigg of Bushnell, a son-in-law; Rick Mercier of Mound, Minnesota, two Sisters; Francis (Elam) Scholz of Effingham, Kansas, and Marie (Elam) Rigg of Macomb; seven grandchildren - Crista Rigg, Cyle and Marla Rigg, Shelley Rigg, Cory Rigg, Kary Rigg, Christy and Kirk Aceves, and Mindy Mercier and three great-grandchildren, Cade, Owen and Tegan Rigg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter; Camilla Ree Mercier of Mound, Minnesota, Brother; Earl Elam of Peoria, and a Sister; Wanda Thorman of Macomb.
She was a member of the Macomb First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and of the Nutty Nut Pickers Club. She was a collector, a seamstress, an avid reader, and cared deeply for her church and her family.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 6, 2011, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with the Rev. Terry Foland Officiant. Marion Francis (Bouck) Jackson age 90 of Macomb, passed away at 4:20 P.M. Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Wesley Village Health Care in Macomb, Illinois of Congestive heart failure and cancer.
He was born in Macomb, Illinois on November 3 1920 to William Andrew and Minnie Bell (McKee) Jackson, the 10th of 11 children, he married Doris Darlene Leasman on September 12, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo.. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2003. He is survived by 3 children; Marian Estella (Andrew) Butcher of Winnebago, Illinois, Frances Lorraine Jackson (Ken Goodroe) of Swanton, VT., and William Everett Jackson of Belleville, Illinois. He is survived by 7 grandchildren; Christopher Byrne, Jennifer (Herb) Adams, Kimberly (Darvy) Spoor, Jonathan (Shana) Butcher, Ryan (Holly) Jackson, Katie (Martin) Hrabusicky, and Evan (Courtney) Jackson. He is also survived by 9 great Grandchildren; Caitlin Byrne, Ty Spoor, Emma Spoor, Michael Adams, Hunter Adams, Kelsey Butcher, Elijah Butcher, Olivia Jackson, and Parker Jackson. He was preceded in death by 1 great grandchild; Zachary Adams and by his parents and all of his siblings.
Marion served in World War II from 1942 until 1945 with the Army Corp of Engineers. He was stationed in the Philippines. After the war, Marion farmed for a few years around Macomb. In 1951 he moved to Galesburg where he worked at the Admiral plant until 1956. He moved to rural Colchester in the fall of 1956 and joined the Labor Union and helped build many of the building on the WIU campus. In January of 1967 he moved to town in Colchester, where he lived until 2009. He then moved to the Wesley Village Apartments in Macomb were he resided until shortly before his death.
In his younger years he was an avid hunter of coons, rabbits, and squirrels. After retirement in 1982, he became an avid fisherman. He always had a big vegetable garden and even kept a small garden while at Wesley Village. He loved to go blackberry picking and mushroom hunting. He also loved to walk and walked a mile a day until shortly before his death.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 8, 2008, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with the Rev. Mark Smith officiant. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 to 2:00 Saturday at the funeral. Friends May view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Friday.
