Jean Danielson age 73 of Colchester, passed away at 9:59 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2016, at Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois. She was born June 7, 1942, in Macomb, Illinois, to Jesse O. and Marie E. Baldner Douglas. Jean was united in marriage on June 24, 1962, in Colchester to J. Ray Danielson.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
Jean had taught Home Economics and Family Living at Colchester High School for 9 years. She was a graduate of Western Illinois University with a Bachelors in Home Economics and a Masters in Education. She retired from Western Illinois University Education Foundation after 22 years in 2005. She was a member of the Colchester United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and Chairman of the Mission Committee, Sew & So Club, Card club, and retired Tuesday lunch bunch. She had been a member of Colchester Jolly Housekeepers. She had tutored children at the Colchester Grade School, Kids Hope U.S.A. She was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Colchester United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Smith. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Joan Greene age 84 of Colchester, passed away at her home in Colchester at 8:30 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2016, with her family at her side. She was born March 9, 1932, in Tennessee, Illinois to Edward and Grace Elizabeth Gallaher Black. Joan was united in marriage on December 1, 1951, in Rushville, Illinois, to Maurice Greene.

Joan was a member of the Colchester Rebekah Lodge, Hancock County Home Extension, Crooked Creek Special Club. She was a Homemaker, avid gardener and flower arranger, Girl Scout Leader, and Colchester Election Judge for many years. She loved to cook and was great at it. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandma along with a friend to many.

Bill was a graduate of Colchester High School in 1958, Member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association, associate member of the Macomb V.F.W.. He was a beer and liquor salesman for 35 years, Owned and operated the Waterfront Bar in Dallas City, Illinois for 7 years, drove a school bus for Macomb School District for 12 years. He enjoyed quail and pheasant hunting, loved spending time on the water boating and, loved to fish. Most of all he loved the time he spent with his family and friends.

Toni was a member of the American Legion Aux. and V.F.W. Aux. both of Macomb. She had been the Administrator of the LaHarpe Davier Nursing home in LaHarpe, Illinois and employed at G & M Mechanical in Macomb. She is a graduate of Western Illinois University with a Masters Degree. She enjoyed the time spent with her friends at Grand Prairie playing Yatzee and visiting. She loved being with Family Fishing, Hunting, Mushrooming, spending time out doors. She also loved to cook for all her friends and family, but most of all she loved her grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the Jones Mortuary with Rev. Bruce Goettsche. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Arlin D. Fentem - 919/7/1924 - 4/21/2016
Arlin D. Fentem died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Wesley Village in Macomb. HE was 91. He was born September 7, 1924, to Damon and Grace Fentem of Colchester, Illinois. He married Virginia Lee Hoyt on November 10, 1946. She survives. Arlin also is survived by a son, Thomas H. Fentem of Quincy, Illinois, a brother, Larry L. Fentem of Colchester, a brother-in-law, Joseph Hoyt of Colchester, and granddaughters, Claire Elaine Click of Quincy and Sarah Lynn Fentem of Lafayette, Indiana. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Savary of Megalia, California, and daughter-in-law Jayne A. Fentem.
Arlin served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He received a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a PH.D in geography. Arlin taught geography courses in Indiana University and from 1958 until his retirement in 1987, at Western Illinois University, where he served the geography department as chairperson and a graduate committee chairperson.
He taught agricultural geography and research methods courses, but his enduring concern was to nurture young geographers, who knew him as a exacting but kindly editor and advisor. An inquisitive, tolerant and generous teacher, Arlin helped many a graduate student see their thesis through to completion.
Arlin served on the editorial boards of Western Illinois Regional Studies and the Journal of Developing Areas, acting as book review editor for the latter, and additionally contributed chapters and articles to other scholarly publications. He was also very active in WIU’s International Travel-Study Program. Among his professional honors, he received the Distinguished Geographer Award from the Illinois Geographical Society in 1991.
In retirement, Arlin volunteered for many years with the Illinois Senior Health Insurance Program, and co-taught “The Book Class” in the Macomb Learning is Forever program.
Arlin was devoted to his family. In later life, he took particular delight in entertaining his granddaughters, teaching them how to read maps and pointing out different landforms on family field trips.
Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Memorials may be made to the WIU Geography Departments’s Ronald Nelson and Arlin Fentem Graduate Student Scholarship Fund, or to any public college or university.

Melanie J. (Gregory) Williams age 58 of Macomb, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at O.S.F. in Peoria, Illinois. She was born March 11, 1958, in Macomb, Illinois to Leon and Judy Bailey Gregory. They both preceded her in death.
Melanie was united in marriage on June 2, 2005, in Macomb, Illinois to Calvin Williams, he survives along with many friends.

Michael L. Scanlan age 68 of Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Colchester, passed away at 5:30 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was born April 16, 1947 in La Harpe, Illinois, to Lowell and Jean E. Elston Scanlan. Mike was united in marriage to Sonja S. Stoneking in Burlington, Iowa in 1988, she preceded him in death on July 7, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving to mourn his passing are 2 Daughters: Tammy Scanlan and Todd Knowles, Macomb, Teresa Friedman, Missouri. Texas. 1 Granddaughter: Ceair Knowles, Macomb, 2 Step Sons: Rick and Jan Stoneking, Brad and Dian Stoneking, 1 Step Daughter: Dr. Renee Stoneking Renner, along with Aunt Mable and several Cousins and many friends.
Mike served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of the Macomb American Legion, Macomb V.F.W., Macomb Eagles, Macomb Elks, and Local Plumbers Union. He was a lifetime plumber and had worked for the City of Colchester Water Department, and the Macomb City Water Department.

Charles was united in marriage on January 9, 1944, in Vermont, Illinois, to Nelda Curless, she preceded him in death on June 19, 2004. He is also preceded by his parents, 1 Grandson: Andrew Blue, 1 Brother: Herbert Blue, 2 Sisters: Maxine Groves and Lois Speed.
