James Ronald Rea - 749/14/1942 - 1/23/2017
James Ronald Rea age 74 of Colchester, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017, at his home in Colchester with his family at his side. He was born September 14, 1942 in Laharpe, Illinois, the 11th of 12 siblings, to Dee and Helen (Brandon) Rea. James was united in marriage December 26, 1965 in Dallas City, Illinois, to Faye Stinnett.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his Wife of 51 years Faye Rea, Colchester, 1 Son: Jimmy (Lori) Rea, Dallas City, Illinois, 1 Daughter: Shannon (Eric) Reed, Macomb, Illinois, 3 Grandchildren: Milissa Rea, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Grant Reed, Macomb, Illinois, Collin Reed, Macomb, 1 Brother: Glen (Delores) Rea, Niota, Illinois, 3 Sisters: Betty (Billy) Boyer, Carthage, Illinois, Carolyn (Carl Hellige) McMillen, Ft. Madison, Iowa and Leanne (James) Derks, Anchorage, Alaska.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Sister: Norma Bayne, 6 Brothers: William, John, Jack, Melvin, Carl, and Donnie Rea.
Jim had been employed with Dadant and Sons, Dallas City, Illinois as a welder for 45 years, he also had been with J.I. Case in Burlington, Iowa as a welder for 28 years along with being a Commercial Fisherman. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, 9th Combat Engineers Heavy Equipment from 1961 to 1963, of which he was stationed in Germany for 18 months. He was a 1960 Graduate of Nauvoo-Colusa High School, served as a City Council Member of the Dallas City Town Board. He was a member of the Hancock County Gun Club. He was a member of the First Christian Church for 45 years. He was very active member of his church serving as a Deacon and Trustee. Jim was a avid hunter, fisherman, trap shooter, gardener, landscaper, anything that involved being outdoors and with family. Jim’s greatest love of all was his family.
Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Macomb, Illinois with Rev. Kelly Ingersoll. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the church. Jones Mortuary of Colchester is handling arrangements for the family.
