Harold W. “Bill” Shaffer age 73 of Macomb, Illinois, passed away at 8:15 P.M. Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born August 3, 1941, in Colchester to Harold and Lousie Shaffer. Harold was united in marriage on August 20, 1961, in Sciota to Janet R. Rigg.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife: Janet, Macomb, 3 Daughters: Tammy Fisher and Eddie Strickland, Macomb, Teresa and Joe Logsdon, Colchester, Tina and Troy Demoss, Rushville, 1 Son-In-Law: Gary Fisher, 5 Grandchildren: Mike and Lorie Fisher, Macomb, Jessica and Jerame Jackson, Bushnell, Josh Logsdon, Colchester, Brandi and Sean Kelly, Macomb, Katie and Michael Bearce, Macomb, 11 Great Grand Kids, 1 Great Great Grandson, 2 Sisters: Peg and Leo Feikert, Blandinsville, Judy and Perry Kimble, Linton, ND, 1 Brother: Don and Carolyn Shaffer, Glenarm, Illinois, along with many Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 Grandson: Cody James Lambert.
Harold had worked for the McDonough County Sheriffs office for 24 years, retiring on August 3rd, 2003. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, McDonough County Auxiliary Police for 15 plus years. After retiring from the sheriffs office he worked part time at O’Reilly Auto Parts, in Macomb. Harold’s passions in life included his family and friends. He loved fishing, deer hunting, bowling, horses, and he loved auto racing. He raced for many years at the Macomb Speedway and Devils Bowl Speedway.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Lee Unger. Burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Macomb. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the services on Monday at the Funeral Home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Sunday.
