Carolyn Sue Rittenhouse age 82 of Colchester, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, with Melonie, Todd, Tyler, Marah and Tanner by her side. Sue was born April 29, 1934, in Vandalia, Missouri, to Clayton and Vivian Ashlock Daniels. She was united in marriage to Herschel Rittenhouse on October 5, 1969, in Milan, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 Daughter: Lana Rapp, 1 Step Daughter: Marjorie Hillyer, 1 Step Son: Donnie Rittenhouse, 4 Brothers: Richard (Grady) Daniels, Jay Daniels, Melvin Daniels, Bill Daniels, 2 Sisters: Ruth Bohannon and Patricia Daniels.
Surviving to mourn her passing are 2 Daughters: Wanda (Scott) Morrell, Oklahoma, Melonie (Todd) Icenogle, Colchester, 2 Step Daughters: Sara Rittenhouse, Missouri, Peggy Rittenhouse, Missouri, 2 Sons: Kenneth Nelson, Nevada, Allen Nelson, Oklahoma, 3 Step Sons: Wade Rittenhouse, Macomb, David Rittenhouse, Milan, Kenny (Myrlene) Rittenhouse, Rock Island, 11 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, 9 Step Grandchildren, 18 Step Great Grandchildren and 15 Step Great Great Grandchildren.
Sue had worked at Western Illinois University, Food service, Colchester Nursing Center, Bus driver for Colchester School District, and McDonough County Rehabilitation Center. She also loved driving for the local Amish to where ever they needed to go. She was a member of the Macomb V.F.W. Auxiliary for many years. Loved to collect figurines of Cardinals and Amish built furniture. In her spare time Sue enjoyed watching the game show network, doing puzzles, knitting, and quilting. She loved to travel and see new things and talk to new people. Of all the things that Sue did in her life being with her family brought her the most joy.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Chaplain Mike Hickey. Cremation will follow the services, with a private burial at a later date. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Friday.
