Robert E. Purdy age 86 of Colchester, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.  He was born January 21, 1930, in Macomb, Illinois, to Dalton and Erma Bonn Purdy.  Bob was united in marriage on March 25, 1951, in Colchester to Glenna Wetzel, she preceded him in death on August 5, 2008.
Surviving to mourn his passing are 1 Son: John and Christine Purdy, Colchester, 2 Daughters: Rebecca (Edward) Demetrion, Wilbrahan, Mass., Lorrie and (Doug Friday) Purdy, Macomb, 1 Great Nephew that was raised in the Purdy Home: Leroy Kalkey, 11 Grandchildren: Meghan (Erik) Allard, Jonathan Demetrion, Cary (Michele) Lockwood, Michael (Sarah) Mann, Bret (Elizabeth) Mann, Brittney (Ryan) Porter, Jonathon Pritchard, Vanessa Purdy, Michael Purdy, Gwen and Allison Kalkey, 10 Great Grandchildren: Angel Zynn, Logan, Brooke, Adelyne, Zylur, River, Landon, Dakin, Adele, Abbie, 1 Sister: Jean Long, Aledo, Illinois.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Wife: Glenna, 3 Grandchildren: Brandon Purdy, Dalton Purdy, Francis Demetrion, 1 Step Grandchild: Brent Cowdrey, and 1 Brother: Melvin Purdy. 
Bob had been employed at Western Illinois University in building services, Mummert Oil in Macomb, Charlie Cox Construction, Hy-Vee in Macomb.  His greatest joy was working on the family farm that he and Glenna built together, with the help of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was a member of the Argyle Bible Church.  Bob enjoyed camping with family and friends, skiing at the Mt Carmel Ski lodge, playing music with the Mt. Carmel Music Group.  Bob could fix or build anything.  Of all the accomplishments in Bobs life, his greatest love and joy was the time he spent with all the generations of his family.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev Sam Kostreva.  Burial will follow the services at Dunkard Cemetery,  rural Colchester.  Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester.  Friends can view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Sunday.  Memorial is to the Argyle Bible Church Steeple Fund.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com

5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home

11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home

    418 E. Yeiser St Bob and I have been friends since high school. I always enjoyed visiting with him then and in later years. I am happy he had a long life with loving family and friends..
