Martin E. Wingo Sr. (Marty), age 74 of Colchester, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb. He was born January 24, 1942, in Macomb, Illinois, to Max Earl and Hazel Ara Wingo. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Ruth Wingo on September 11, 1982, in McDonough County.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his Wife: Marilyn of Colchester, 2 Sons: Martin E. Wingo Jr. of Macomb, Fabian Eugene Wingo (Darlene) , Macomb, 2 Step Sons: Leonard Kevin Miller, Taylorville, Illinois, Keith Edward Miller, Galesburg, Illinois, 4 Daughters: Darlene Joann Groover (Rick) , Canton, Illinois, Wannetta Irene McMurl, (John), Colchester, Illinois, Sandi Mae Burton, Macomb, Illinois, Kelly Marie Shirley (Dave), Bremerton, Washington, 18 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Sister: Sandra Byers (Jack), North Carolina.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Grandchild, along with several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Marty served his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1963. He is a member of the Plymouth American Legion Post #0912, Faith Tabernacle Church in Colchester, Coldwell Baptist Church in Brookfield, Missouri. He had retired from McGraw Edison in Macomb, Illinois. Martin liked to attend auctions where he and Marilyn bought their first home. He was a Deacon at the Brookfield Baptist Church and later at the Colchester Faith Tabernacle of God at Colchester. Loved church activities, enjoyed playing with his pets. He said his dog Gabby had him well trained. Loved spending time with family and seeing the many pictures of grandkids and great grandkids on Face Book. Before computers he was known as Teaberry Kidd on his C.B. radio, where he made many friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. John McMurl Sr., burial will follow the services at Stoneking Cemetery with full Military Rites by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday.
