Mark Hutchins Obituary

Mark William Hutchins, 57, of Colchester passed away peacefully at 6:45 P.M. on April 20, 2017, in his home due to complications from ALS.
He was born May 8, 1959, to Kenneth and Doris (Rigg) Hutchins.
On February 22, 1997, he married the love of his life Cheryl K Walley. She survives.
Mark was a 1977 graduate of Macomb High School and worked at NTN Bower until his retirement. Before ALS he was an avid gardener and woodworker. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Denver Broncos fan.
Also surviving are his two step children, Sarah (Paul) Nelson of Colchester, IL, Seth (Melissa) Sappington of Plymouth, IL, one brother, Michael (Barbara) Hutchins of PlantCity, FL, a sister-in-law, Connie Hutchins of Macomb, IL, his father-in-law John Walley; sister-in-law Polly (Mark) Buddemeyer of Newburgh, IN; brother-in-law, Tom (Melissa) Walley of Fulton, MO. Two aunts, Patricia Ward of Macomb, IL and Linda (Cap) Spangler of Bushnell, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mark’s favorite role was Papa Bear to Donovan and Jonothan Nelson, Lyndee, Norma and Cody Sappington, his adopted granddaughter Joslyn Hilton and his therapy dog, Maizy Grace.
Preceding him in death were his mother and father, his grandparents Pat and Irene Hutchins and Eldon and Marie Rigg, his brother Mitchell Hutchins, his uncle George Ward and aunt Pattie Swanson, mother-in-law, Norma Walley, sister-in-law Barbara Roskamp and brother-in-law David Roskamp.
Graveside services at will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Mt Auburn Cemetery in Colchester with Pastor Jim Richardson. Friends may sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Colchester Rescue Squad or the family through Jones Mortuary. The family wishes to express their thanks to Alex Little, Melissa Beatty and Meghan Carter for the love and care shown to Mark during his heroic battle with ALS and to his friends and classmates who made a positive difference.
