Dea worked at the Elms Nursing Home for over 23 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that she was employed at the Colchester Nursing Center. She treasured the time that she spent working with her residents. Dea also enjoyed gardening, cooking, bowling, barbecuing, baking and cheering for the New York Yankees. She loved caring for her cats, and especially her bull dog, Pongo. Dea was a very hard working, strong woman who provided care for many people during the course of her life, especially her family. Dea had a special way of providing her brutally honest opinion, but she also liked to remind us not to “take any wooden nickels!” Dea loved life, but she loved her family most of all.
