Mary J (Parks) Cook

Mary J. Cook age 99 of Macomb, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Wesley Village Health Care Center. She was born January 15, 1925, in Lamoine Township, to Everett and Bertha Robinson Parks.

Mary is survived by her 2 daughters: Juanita (Merkle) Cherry, Trenton, New Jersey, Teresa (Britton) Gilbert, San Angelo, Texas, Grandchildren: Colin Cherry, Zachary (Anabella) Cherry, Brandon (Angela) Gilbert, Benjamin (Kimberly) Gilbert, Nicholas Gilbert, great grandchildren: Zoey Rewis, Ellie Gilbert, Addie Gilbert, Mia Gilbert, 1 brother: Paul Parks, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister: Doris Matthews and 1 brother: Merle Parks.

Mary was retired from NTN Bower in Macomb, where she had been a bookkeeper for many years. Shortly thereafter she began caring for children of working parents, in her home.  She did that for 10 years and had many fond memories of all those families.  She enjoyed watching Jeopardy.  She loved quilting and shared many of her beautiful quilts with her family members. She loved the Lord and lived out her faith by serving others with a very generous heart.  She attended the Macomb Church of Christ for a number of years. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024,  at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester.  Burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.  Visitation with the family will be from 12 noon to 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to the Benevolent Care Fund at Wesley Village, 1200 E. Grant Street, Macomb, IL.
