Robert B. Henness age 76 of Colchester, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019, at his home in Colchester. He was born October 23, 1942, in Colchester, to John William and Lucia B. Crocker Henness. Bob was united in marriage to Neta Stimpson, August 5, 1961, in Colchester, she preceded him in death November 3, 2006.
Surviving to mourn his passing are 1 Son; Wes (Patty) Henness, Macomb, 1 Daughter: Rosenna (Troy) See, Amarillo, Texas. 6 Grandchildren: Whitley (Tyler) Walters, Brandt (Kayla) Henness, Matthew (Jennifer) See, Elijah (Mary) See, Elizabeth See, Sarah See, 6 Great Grandchildren, 1 Sister: Dorothy (Dick) Wayland, Colchester, 1 Sister in Law: Virgie Henness, along with her family Carol Reedy, Melody Berndt, Mark Henness, Brother In Law: John (Pam) Stimpson and Step Sister: Sharon (David) Otey.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 Brother: Bill Henness
Bob served his country in the National Guard. As a young man he saved the U.S. Flag from being torn down by a group of people on the lawn of the McDonough County Courthouse. He was a member of the Colchester First Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a young man. Bob was a member of the Hancock Gun Club, in Carthage, He enjoyed the point of time in the day when he got to gather with his friends for coffee at Beck’s or the Full Scoop. Bob was the owner and operator of Bob’s Lawn Service in Colchester. He previously worked at Ozark Camper Sales and Colchester Nursing Home both in Colchester. Family meant everything to Bob, he enjoyed family gatherings to eat and visit. Bob’s greatest love was his family.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester with Rev. David Haney. Military services will be conducted at the graveside by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. Friends may view and sign the register book at Jones Mortuary from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday. Memorial is to Colchester Rescue.
