Richard A. Dixon age 82 of rural Colchester, went to be with his Lord, Thursday evening, December 20, 2018, at Wesley Village Health Care in Macomb. He was born April 10, 1936, in Tennessee Township to Gale A. and Leona E. (Connor) Dixon. He married Mary Lou Carson, October 28, 1956 in Colchester.
Surviving to mourn his passing is his wife of 62 years Mary Dixon, Colchester, 2 Sons: Stan (Debbie) Dixon, Colchester Clee (Linda) Dixon, Colchester, 1 Daughter: Deanna (Bryan) King, rural Dallas City, 9 Grandchildren: Haley Dixon (Carl Shahan), Marcy Dixon, Cody King, Casey (Chantal) King, Andrea Dixon, Austin Dixon, Jared (Jennifer) Smiddy, Megan (Robbie) Moon, Stephanie (Seth) Mendenhall, 10 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Brother: George (Janet) Dixon, Colchester.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, 2 Grandchildren: Joshua Dixon and Emily Dixon.
Richard was a member and Elder of the Colmar Christian Church, McDonough County Farm Bureau, McDonough County Pork Producers, Mt Carmel Gospel Group. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping of which he was the camp cook, and loved to go deer hunting. He was a carpenter of which he built all of the structures on the family farm. He loved spending time working in his work shop building something new or taking something old and bringing it back to new. Richard was a farmer in grain and livestock production, he operated a livestock trucking business and operated a sawmill on the farm. Of all the things that Richard did his greatest love was the time he spent with his family.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 24, 2018, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Dan Ormond and Rev. Roger Carson. Burial will follow the services at the funeral home at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, December 23, 2018, at the Jones Mortuary. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Sunday. Memorials are to Colmar Christian Church or Colchester Rescue.
