Chester "Kay" Beckerdite - 81

Chester "Kay" Beckerdite age 81 of Colchester, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb. He was born December 22, 1937 in Brooklyn, Illinois, to Chester O and Wanda (Meredith) Beckerdite. Kay was united in marriage in Augusta, Illinois, on August 16, 1959, to Carol Elizabeth Hoelscher, for 59 years. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2019.
Surviving to mourn his passing are, 2 Daughters: Debra (Dana) Bainter, Colchester, Susan Silva, Colchester, 6 Grandchildren: Bryan (Stephanie) Chenoweth, Brooks (Molly) Bainter, Blake (Jessica) Chenoweth, Amanda (Emmett) Hall, Clint (Lauren) Bainter, Brandi Chenoweth, 10 Great Grandchildren: Aubrey Bainter, Dana Kane, Hallie Kane, Benson Bainter, Brady Bainter, Charlee Kane, Tucker Chenoweth, Ezra Chenoweth, Ezekiel Chenoweth, Grayson Hall, 1 Brother In Law: Alvin Hamilton and many Nieces and Nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by his parents. wife, Carol, 1 Son in Law: Ralph Silva, 2 Sisters: Barbara Hamilton, Roberta Reeder and 1 Brother In Law: Don Reeder.
Kay had worked at Yetter Manufacturing, oil marketer for Ivan Welch, Beckerdite and Lewis and Dale Lybarger Oil Company, Co Owner of B and G food service with Donnie Garlick, C.C. Chuckwagon and Drove for the Red Cross Transportation. Kay served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp, stationed at Pearl Harbor, he completed his basic training at Camp Pendleton. His love of the Corp and Country was always close to his heart, he always displayed Old Glory and enjoyed singing the Marine Corp Hymn. Kay had been an Elder and Deacon at the Colchester First Christian Church, Colchester Jaycees, Colchester Fire Department, Macomb Elks and he was a member of The Leap in Colchester. Kay was very strong in his faith in God. Kays family was the love of his life. He enjoyed Country music, the Quincy Blue Devils Basketball teams and the L.A. Dodgers.
Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Doug Gorman and Pastor Blake Chenoweth. Military service by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion will follow the services at the funeral home. Family graveside services will be 1:30 P.M. Thursday at Brooklyn Cemetery in Brooklyn, Illinois. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday. Memorials are to the Leap or the Elms Activity Fund.
